The Central Bank of Jordan has warned citizens against dealing with suspicious phone-selling pages that require an advance deposit.
In an awareness post on Facebook on Monday, the bank called for the credibility of the seller to be verified before making any electronic money transfer.
It explained that offers to sell phones at attractive prices and with flexible terms may seem like a genuine buying opportunity. However, some fake pages exploit this to defraud buyers, asking for an advance payment (deposit) and then taking the money without delivering the phone.
