Al-Taj News – The raid on Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar’s home continues to dominate the American political scene, as former President Barack Obama broke his silence, criticizing current President Donald Trump’s actions toward his political opponents.

In a post on the X platform on Sunday, Obama criticized the raid on the representative’s home, explaining that it is “a fundamental principle of American democracy” that the government should not selectively target individuals simply because of their “political beliefs.” He pointed out that the Trump administration is violating this principle by targeting Ilhan Omar, the congresswoman from Minnesota.

The post also addressed details of the case, as Obama highlighted the current administration’s efforts to strip Ilhan of her US citizenship and deport her from the United States, based on allegations that the representative was 18 years old when her father obtained citizenship.

Ilhan Omar came to the United States with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father obtained US citizenship, and she acquired it automatically because she was 17 at the time.

In this regard, Obama said, “If Ilhan had been 18 years old at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately,” indicating that this is precisely what the Trump administration is seeking to prove.
