Prime Minister: Aqaba’s Port System Operates with High Efficiency and Constitutes a Key Regional Gateway

Al-Taj News – Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan confirmed in a post on social media today that “Aqaba’s port system operates with high efficiency and has become a key regional gateway for many sisterly countries.” Dr. Hassan said, “Important government decisions that we took during the past year had a significant impact on accelerating handling, clearance, and storage procedures, and enhancing trade and the sustainability of supply and provision chains.

He added, “The Aqaba–Shidiya–Ma’an railway and the Aqaba Port–Ma’an inland port are two strategic development projects that complement the development of the port system and constitute a top priority for the government.”

The Prime Minister attached an explanatory video to the post that included an inspection tour to review the progress of work in Aqaba’s port system, during which Dr. Hassan stressed the need to accelerate the completion of expansion and development projects, in a way that enhances the ports’ efficiency and their ability to handle trade traffic.

Hassan also inspected the oil port in Aqaba, stressing the importance of the development and expansion projects currently being implemented there to increase its capacity and enhance its ability to meet the requirements of the coming phase.

Hassan said that the crisis we faced represents an opportunity to strengthen the role of Aqaba Port so that it becomes a central port for the region in the long term, and not only during this phase.
