Al-Taj News – The National Strategy for the Chemical Industries and Cosmetics Sector for the years 2027–2029 identified six strategic programs to develop the sector, aimed at raising operational efficiency, enhancing the production of high-value products, deepening industrial integration, stimulating investment, expanding export markets, and achieving environmental sustainability.
According to the strategy prepared by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, in partnership with the Jordan Chamber of Industry and the relevant public and private entities, the “Efficiency” program focuses on developing industrial processes and the digital and energy transition through the adoption of smart industry technologies and predictive maintenance, and improving energy and water consumption, targeting a reduction in energy costs of more than 15 percent and an increase in worker productivity of approximately 20 percent by 2029.
The “High Value” program aims to increase the contribution of high-value products from approximately 15 percent of the sector’s current sales to more than 25 percent, through the development of specialized intermediate chemicals, smart fertilizers, biological pesticides, technical paints, advanced detergents, and Dead Sea products with high added value.
As for the “Integration” program, it focuses on reducing reliance on imported inputs, developing intermediate industries, and linking manufacturing industries with national mineral resources, in addition to establishing specialized industrial complexes and internationally recognized national accreditation laboratories, with the aim of raising the local content ratio to more than 15 percent.
