King Abdullah II and Macron Discuss Strengthening Jordanian-French Partnership and Witness the Signing of a Defense Cooperation Agreement
Al-Taj News – His Majesty King Abdullah II and French President Emmanuel Macron held talks on Thursday at the Invalides in the capital Paris, addressing the close and longstanding relations between the two friendly countries.
His Majesty the King stressed the importance of the Jordanian-French partnership in vital fields, noting that the signing of a defense cooperation agreement between the two countries during the visit builds on ongoing coordination to maintain their shared security and support efforts to achieve regional stability.
His Majesty expressed his thanks to France and President Macron for hosting a new round of the “Aqaba Process” meetings, which discuss ways to support the Lebanese Army, stressing the importance of continuing coordination with partner countries and international organizations in this regard.
Regarding the situation in the region, His Majesty the King stressed the need to intensify international efforts to restore calm, emphasizing the importance of respecting the sovereignty of Arab countries and working to ensure their security.
For his part, the French president affirmed his country’s support for the measures taken by Jordan to safeguard its security and the safety of its citizens, commending the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve peace in the region.
The two leaders also witnessed, on the sidelines of the meeting, the signing by the governments of the two countries of an agreement on defense cooperation between Jordan and France, reflecting their commitment to continuing to deepen the defense partnership and providing a comprehensive framework to regulate various aspects of cooperation in this field, in a manner that serves their shared interests and strengthens their contribution to consolidating security and stability in the region.
At the beginning of the visit, His Majesty the King was accorded an official reception ceremony at the Invalides.
