U.S. Energy Secretary: Gulf Oil Flows Reach 18 Million Barrels in a Single Day

Al-Taj News – U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that around 18 million barrels of oil flowed from the Gulf in a single day, noting that flows had returned to pre-war levels.

In an interview with Fox News, Wright added that oil flows from the Gulf had reached record levels, with around 18 million barrels passing through on Tuesday, close to the levels recorded before the conflict.

Sharp Decline in Hormuz

Meanwhile, preliminary data from Kpler, cited by Reuters, showed that four commodity vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, compared with 10 vessels the previous day.

The traffic included two bulk carriers that left the strait, one loaded and the other in ballast, in addition to two oil tankers that entered the strait without cargo.

Reuters noted that tracking data does not necessarily reflect the movement of all vessels, as some ships may have switched off their Automatic Identification System devices to avoid detection.

Before the war broke out on February 28, the Strait of Hormuz saw around 125 large commercial vessels pass through daily, including oil and gas tankers, cargo ships, and container vessels, while around 20% of the world’s daily supplies of crude oil and liquefied natural gas pass through the strait.
