Sweden Summons Iranian Ambassador and Expels Embassy Employee

Al-Taj News – Sweden announced Wednesday that it had summoned the Iranian ambassador and ordered the expulsion of an embassy employee over “activities contrary to the Vienna Convention” on diplomatic relations, according to a government statement.

Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer said in a statement: “We know that Iran has long been carrying out activities within and against Sweden targeting individuals opposed to the Iranian regime, as well as various Israeli interests in our country.”

Strömmer expressed regret that these activities are carried out particularly through criminal networks, without providing further details.

Swedish security agencies had previously warned that Iran was using intermediary criminal networks to carry out attacks.

The authorities did not disclose the identity of the person who was expelled, nor did they specify the reason for the expulsion.
