Al-Taj News – Speaker of the Senate Faisal Al-Fayez affirmed that Jordan has taken significant and internationally recognized steps in combating money laundering and terrorist financing, which has directly contributed to the stability of its financial system and enhanced the attractiveness of its business and investment environment.
He said that Jordanian efforts in this field have not been limited to domestic measures, but have become an effective partnership with the international system to ensure the Kingdom’s compliance with the highest global standards.
This came during a meeting held by Al-Fayez today, Sunday, at the Senate, with Hamed Al-Zghabi, Chairman of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force concerned with combating money laundering and terrorist financing, and his accompanying delegation.
Al-Fayez explained that Jordan’s efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing come within the framework of a well-established national strategy aimed at strengthening the economic security system, protecting the national financial system, and contributing to regional and international stability.
He pointed out that Jordan recognizes that money laundering and terrorist financing crimes constitute a cross-border threat that affects stability and development. Therefore, it has worked to establish an integrated system in line with international laws to address them, while also strengthening coordination with various Arab and international entities to reduce the risks arising from them.
Al-Fayez noted that the Senate approved the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law to curb money laundering and terrorist financing crimes, which also requires financial institutions and public and private sector institutions to report any suspicious transactions.
