Arab Barometer Poll: Economy Tops Jordanians’ Concerns as Confidence in Government Rises

Al-Taj News – A recent opinion poll conducted by the Arab Barometer network revealed that economic affairs are at the top of Jordanians’ concerns and among the issues occupying them most, amid a noticeable rise in levels of confidence in the government and public services.

The report, in its ninth wave, conducted in October 2025 and covering a representative sample of 1,266 citizens, showed that 59% of Jordanians consider the economic situation to be the most prominent challenge facing the Kingdom.

Twenty-seven percent of poll participants described the economic situation as very good, an increase of 5 points compared with 2023, while others believe that the economic situation will improve over the next two to three years.

About half of Jordanians, or 49%, express high or considerable confidence in the government, an increase of 10 points compared with the 39% recorded in late 2023.

Confidence in the prime minister also rose by 11 points to reach 49%, while confidence in Parliament did not witness the same increase, with only 27% expressing confidence in it, a rate that is barely different from late 2023. Meanwhile, the satisfaction rate with overall government performance rose to 61%.

According to the report, the armed forces and security agencies continued to rank as the institutions most trusted by citizens, at 96% and 91%, respectively, while confidence in the House of Representatives stood at 27%.

Service sectors received high ratings, with satisfaction with maintaining security and order reaching 90%, electricity supply 79%, and healthcare and education 67% and 66%, respectively.

Sixty-five percent of those covered by the poll said they support equal employment opportunities between the genders, while 46% believed that freedom of expression is guaranteed to a great or moderate extent.

Thirty percent of poll participants identified the lack of water resources as the most serious environmental problem in the Kingdom, followed by air quality at 14%, and waste management at 10%.

Ninety-three percent of participants prefer giving priority to developing alternative energy sources, while 71% support phasing out fossil fuels, and around 78% support setting a common deadline for phasing out highly polluting vehicles.

These levels are close to those recorded in late 2023 and demonstrate sustained support for major changes, at least in principle.

Regarding political participation, 22% of participants said they are interested or very interested in politics, a percentage that is relatively close to what it was in late 2023.
