Government: New Parks to Be Established and Green Facilities Rehabilitated Across Various Governorates
Al-Taj News – The government’s digital spokesperson, Farah, said Wednesday that green spaces and playgrounds are part of quality of life, stressing that the government is continuing to establish new parks and rehabilitate existing facilities across various governorates of the Kingdom.
Farah explained that a directive from the Prime Minister calls for establishing a new park in Zarqa Governorate similar to Al-Nashama Park in Marj Al-Hamam, in addition to establishing parks in the governorates of Tafileh, Ma’an, Madaba, Jerash, and Ajloun, modeled after Mafraq Park.
She noted the opening of a park in Mafraq covering an area of 200 dunums, containing around 10,000 trees, picnic areas, children’s playgrounds, and sports facilities. She said the park will be connected to the sports facilities of Al al-Bayt University, allowing the local community, youth, and athletes to benefit from them.
In Marj Al-Hamam, Al-Nashama Park was opened on an area of 56 dunums, featuring green spaces, walking and cycling paths, and 11 playgrounds for various sports.
In the Dead Sea area, the Dead Sea Corniche was also opened on an area of 600 dunums. It includes a pedestrian walkway and cycling path, family seating areas, children’s playgrounds, and an outdoor theater with a capacity of around 2,500 people for artistic and cultural events, in addition to work underway to rehabilitate Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II Park.
Farah said work is continuing in other governorates and areas through the opening and rehabilitation of parks and facilities in the Al-Hallabat area, Zarqa, Azraq, Hittin Camp, and Baqa’a Camp, as well as facilities at Al Hussein Youth City, Prince Faisal Youth City, and the park adjacent to Al-Akeider Health Center in the northwestern Badia.
She affirmed that the aim of planting trees and establishing parks is to provide better places for citizens and make public spaces part of the lives of families, youth, and children in Jordan.
