Al-Taj News – The Russian presidency, the “Kremlin,” announced early Sunday that the talks held by Russian President Vladimir Putin with US President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner had concluded.
The Russian presidency said in a statement that Putin’s talks with Witkoff and Kushner lasted three hours, during which the two sides discussed ways to end the war in Ukraine, which has been ongoing for more than four years, ahead of the envoys’ visit to Kyiv on Sunday.
Russia’s TASS news agency quoted Putin as saying that Russia had not agreed with Ukraine to a broader ceasefire lasting more than three days to halt attacks on the two capitals.
Putin said Russia had halted strikes on Kyiv for three days starting September 5, and that the Ukrainian side significantly reduced attacks on Russian territory during that period.
Putin added: “The Ukrainian authorities issued their call for a ceasefire lasting more than three days, but we never agreed to that with them.”
