Southern Military Region Foils Attempt to Smuggle Drugs Using a Guided Balloon

Al-Taj News – The Southern Military Region foiled, early Friday, an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic substances using a guided balloon, after it was detected while attempting to cross the border into Jordanian territory.

Border Guard units, within their area of responsibility, detected the balloon, dealt with it, and brought it down inside Jordanian territory, where the narcotic substances it was carrying were seized, in coordination with the security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.

The seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures.

The Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army reaffirmed its continued efforts to confront attempts at smuggling and infiltration across the border, monitor the various methods and means used to carry them out, and take the necessary operational measures to address and thwart them.

Border Guard units continue to carry out their duties in protecting the Kingdom’s borders and confronting any attempts that could undermine its security and stability.
