China Cultural Centre, Orphan Care Association hold cultural camp for children
AMMAN — The China Cultural Centre, in partnership with the Orphan Care Association, held the Chinese Cultural Camp from August 9-16 at Amman Training College, offering children an opportunity to learn about the Chinese language, culture, traditions, heritage and tourism.
The camp featured language lessons, cultural and artistic activities, music, interactive sessions and group activities in an engaging, age-appropriate setting, according to a China Cultural Centre statement.
The programme introduced participants to basic Chinese, including greetings, common words, numbers and simple expressions, as well as Chinese writing and Oracle Bone Script, one of the earliest forms of Chinese writing.
Children also learned Chinese calligraphy and explored the artistic value of Chinese characters.
They practised a Chinese song, focusing on pronunciation, tones and rhythm and took part in activities introducing Chinese culture, traditions and heritage. The programme also highlighted Chinese tourism, including prominent landmarks and destinations, while group activities promoted teamwork, cooperation and communication.
Performances and interactive cultural activities further helped participants develop confidence and public-speaking skills, according to the organisers.
The camp aimed to provide more than an introduction to the Chinese language by giving children an opportunity to discover another culture, develop new skills, work together and express themselves with greater confidence.
