AMMAN — The Cabinet on Sunday was briefed on statistics on investors who obtained Jordanian citizenship or residency through investment during the second quarter of 2026.
According to the statistics, 21 investors obtained Jordanian citizenship during the period, with their investments in the Kingdom exceeding $33 million and creating 767 jobs for Jordanians.
Meanwhile, six investors obtained residency through investment, with their investments totalling nearly JD2 million, according to a Prime Ministry statement.
The statistics showed that the total number of investors who have obtained Jordanian citizenship since the implementation of the citizenship-by-investment decision in 2021 has reached 687.
The Cabinet has recently approved amendments to the bylaws regulating the issuance of residency and Jordanian citizenship to investors as part of efforts to attract and retain investment and stimulate economic activity across the Kingdom.
Under the amended rules, investors can qualify for citizenship by purchasing newly issued shares in Jordanian companies worth at least JD1.5 million, subject to conditions including holding the shares for five years.
Citizenship can also be granted to investors who establish new projects with capital of at least JD700,000 in Amman or JD500,000 in other governorates, as well as those investing in existing projects and meeting requirements related to fixed assets and the employment of Jordanians.
Other routes include investing JD3 million in pharmaceutical or food logistics projects or creating at least 150 jobs for Jordanians in Amman or 100 jobs in other governorates.
The Amra City Project requires a JD1.5 million investment to qualify. Citizenship benefits extend to the investor’s wife, dependent daughters, parents, and unmarried sons under 24 years of age, or under 30 years of age if the investment exceeds JD2 million.
The amended rules also provide for residency through property investment, including a five-year residency permit for investors purchasing property worth at least JD200,000 from a developer, JD300,000 from non-developers or JD150,000 outside Amman, subject to a five-year holding period.
