Kremlin Official Welcomes Trump’s Call for Ukraine to Choose a New President

Al-Taj News – Russian chief negotiator Kirill Dmitriev on Saturday welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for Ukraine to choose a new president instead of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, describing Trump’s remarks as “pivotal and historic.”

Dmitriev, the Kremlin’s special envoy for economic cooperation, said in a post on the X platform, “President Trump joins many others who believe that Ukraine needs leadership that genuinely focuses on peace, rather than the war policy pursued by Zelenskyy … These are pivotal and historic statements.”

Trump strongly criticized his Ukrainian counterpart, Zelenskyy, saying that the time had come for Ukraine to have a new president and condemning Ukrainian strikes targeting Russian fuel facilities.

His remarks came after Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed that Russia was ready to “supply oil to the U.S. and global markets” amid the fuel price crisis.
