Greater Amman Municipality: No Plans to Raise Fees, and We Are Seeking to Ease the Burden on Citizens

Al-Taj News – Nabil Al-Jariri, City Manager at the Greater Amman Municipality, said on Tuesday that the Municipality has no plans to raise service fees, affirming that the Municipality is seeking to ease the burden on citizens through installment plans and exemptions.

Al-Jariri added that installment plans and exemptions contribute to encouraging citizens to pay the financial dues owed by them, noting that the value of these dues owed to the Municipality ranges between 300 and 400 million dinars.

He explained that exemptions and facilities related to fees are renewed according to the approved directions, pointing out that these measures encourage citizens to pay the dues owed by them, thereby enhancing the Municipality’s ability to collect its revenues.

Greater Amman Municipality Assets

Regarding the assets of the Greater Amman Municipality, Al-Jariri said that the latest study conducted by the Municipality estimated the value of its assets at approximately one billion dinars, noting that the Municipality is currently working on preparing a new study to estimate the value of the assets.

He added that the value of the assets is expected to rise with increasing prices, improved services, and urban expansion in the city of Amman, explaining that the city’s expansion, the establishment of Amra City, and the implementation of its facilities and services would contribute to increasing the value of the assets.

Islamic Sukuk

Regarding the issuance of Islamic sukuk, Al-Jariri said that the Municipality’s plan to issue sukuk worth 400 million dinars came after studies were prepared in cooperation with the consultants and the Municipality’s administrative and financial staff.

He explained that the plan is based on distributing the sukuk issuance across stages, with the first stage amounting to 400 million dinars, followed by a stage worth 300 million dinars, and then another stage worth 300 million dinars, bringing the total issuance to one billion dinars.
