Al-Taj News – Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Portugal national team, announced Wednesday that he was leaving the team’s camp in Denmark, following a press conference held by coach Jorge Jesus.
The veteran coach had announced that Ronaldo, who remained on the bench throughout Portugal’s match against Norway on Sunday in the UEFA Nations League, would also not be in the starting lineup against Denmark on Thursday.
Ronaldo wrote on his Instagram account: “Following the national team’s coach’s press conference, and after a conversation I had with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, I decided to leave the national team’s camp.”
He continued: “At the appropriate time, I will tell the Portuguese public the full truth about the reasons that prompted me to leave, after I have always devoted myself to playing for this team.”
Ronaldo concluded: “For now, the time is right to wish the Portugal national team and all my teammates, without exception, the best of luck.”
