Al-Taj News – The match between Tunisia and visiting Botswana ended in a 2-2 draw at Hamadi Agrebi Stadium in Rades, in the second round of Group H matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Moein Chaabani is leading the “Carthage Eagles” following their disappointing exit from the 2026 World Cup, but the former Espérance de Tunis and Moroccan club RS Berkane coach was unable to secure a win in his second match in charge of the national team after a 1-1 draw with Uganda in the opening round.
Chaabani relied on the “old guard,” with veteran full-back Ali Maaloul, Ferjani Sassi, and Montassar Talbi leading the lineup. However, the national team was unable to convert its territorial dominance into goals, unlike the visitors, who capitalized on a costly mistake that Tatayaone Kgamanyane turned into a goal, beating goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen in the 37th minute.
Tunisia’s response was swift, as Hazem Mastouri equalized with a deceptive header following a decisive cross from Montassar Talbi in the 42nd minute.
In the second half, Chaabani’s side needed just seven minutes to turn the match around, as Mastouri put them ahead with a superb shot after capitalizing on an error in the Botswana defense’s clearance in the 49th minute.
