Al-Taj News – Israel’s Channel 12 reported on Tuesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered U.S. President Donald Trump, last week, to launch a large-scale joint military operation against Iran before the elections.
Channel 12 quoted an Israeli official as saying that Netanyahu was the one who initiated the proposal to launch the operation against Iran before the Israeli elections, noting that the timing of the operation now could affect both the Israeli and American elections.
It added that Netanyahu’s proposal came after the detection of “concerning and suspicious” Iranian steps regarding its nuclear program.
The channel revealed that Trump initially leaned toward giving Netanyahu the green light to resume strikes on Iran, explaining that after repeated requests from Netanyahu, Trump told him, “Go ahead and get ready, but that means now or later, or perhaps it may never happen.” However, Trump’s enthusiasm for the idea later declined, according to what the channel reported, citing an Israeli official.
The channel quoted American officials as saying that they had formed the impression that Netanyahu wanted to resume strikes on Iran before the elections and that he believed his strength lay in being a prime minister during wartime.
It noted that the Israeli army and the U.S. Central Command are completing preparations in case Trump changes his mind and decides to resume the war.
