EU Ambassador: We Detected 100 Disinformation Campaigns Targeting 100 Countries in One Year

Al-Taj News – The Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Jordan, Pierre Christophe, affirmed on Saturday that regulating digital services has become necessary to protect citizens and societies, ensure accountability in the use of artificial intelligence, and safeguard media and freedom of expression.

This came during his participation in the Future of Media and Communication Forum, where he explained that European legislation aims to require digital services to indicate fake content produced using deepfake technologies (Deepfake), as well as content produced by bots, in addition to strengthening parental controls and limiting access to addictive content.

Christophe stressed the importance of protecting journalistic content from deletion without prior notice to media institutions, and ensuring that measures taken against media outlets are subject to oversight that guarantees freedom of expression is not compromised.

He warned of the risks of monopolizing freedom of media and expression, noting that history has witnessed attempts to monopolize these freedoms, which could lead to what he described as a “dictatorship of technological fascism.”
