Jordan to Begin 2026 General Population and Housing Census Tomorrow

Al-Taj News – The 2026 General Population and Housing Census will begin tomorrow, Thursday, and continue until October 31, according to the schedule set by the Council of Ministers.

During the first three days of October, the census process will begin with the electronic self-enumeration phase, followed by the field enumeration phase to reach households and housing units in various parts of the Kingdom and complete the collection of data.

According to the plan prepared by the Department of Statistics, a dedicated electronic link for self-enumeration will be sent through the “Sanad” application to people who have previously expressed their desire to complete their data themselves and provided the Department with their phone numbers for this purpose, allowing them to complete their household and housing data electronically.

After the self-enumeration phase ends on October 3, the actual field enumeration will begin on the fourth of the month, through approximately 12,000 field researchers from the staff of the Department of Statistics, teachers from the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development, and employees of the institutions participating in implementing the census.

The census covers all residents and housing units in the Kingdom, including citizens and residents, with the aim of providing up-to-date, comprehensive, and accurate data on the population and housing, forming a basis for planning, policymaking, and decision-making across various sectors.

During the census, the Department of Statistics will use a modern digital system to collect and process data, while calling on citizens and residents to cooperate with field researchers and provide the required information accurately.

The Department confirmed that the data provided will be treated with complete confidentiality, urging households to verify the identity of the field researcher through their statistical identification card, which is equipped with an electronic code on the card they carry during the visit.
