EU Allocates €710 Million to Help Victims of Crises

Al-Taj News – European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced Saturday that the European Union will allocate €710 million to help people affected by crises, natural disasters and conflicts, most of it to African countries.

In a speech before the United Nations General Assembly, von der Leyen said: “Conflicts, extreme weather conditions and the rising cost of living are disrupting the lives of many people around the world.”

She added: “Through the aid package we are announcing today, we will support displaced communities across Africa, as well as the communities hosting them.”

According to a statement by the European Commission, €380 million will be allocated to sub-Saharan Africa, with the aim of “protecting vulnerable migrants, supporting voluntary return and reintegration, strengthening migration governance, and responding to situations of forced displacement.”
