Al-Taj News – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he expects his country and Cuba to reach an agreement, noting that he does not believe resorting to military action will be necessary.
Trump told reporters at the White House, “I would say that we will reach an agreement with Cuba. I don’t think we’ll need the military.”
The Trump administration has openly stated that it seeks to overthrow the Cuban government, while a U.S. oil blockade imposed earlier this year placed the country under severe pressure, as it faces fuel shortages and power outages exacerbated by deteriorating infrastructure.
“We want to help Cuba… We want to open Cuba up to our people,” Trump said before departing for Tennessee.
For his part, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said today that his country is not a threat to the United States and remains ready for dialogue with Washington on the basis of sovereign equality and respect for international law.
