Saudi Foreign Minister: Gulf Security Is Part of Global Security, and We Call for the Strait of Hormuz to Return to Its Pre-War Status

Al-Taj News – Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud affirmed on Saturday that the Kingdom, along with countries in the region, had been subjected to “blatant Iranian attacks,” stressing that the security of the Gulf region is an integral part of the security of the region and the world, and that efforts to restore security cannot be based on domination and the imposition of influence.

The Saudi foreign minister, in a speech during the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, welcomed the UN Security Council’s statement condemning attacks by the Ansar Allah (Houthi) group on the Kingdom and commercial vessels.

Bin Farhan affirmed his country’s full right to protect its security and sovereignty, and called on the international community to reject the actions of the Houthi group in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The Saudi foreign minister called for the situation in the Strait of Hormuz to return to what it was before the war without imposing fees, warning that risks threatening international navigation could affect the global economy. He stressed that restoring global supply chains is a shared responsibility.

He also stressed the need for the region to be free of weapons of mass destruction and for peaceful nuclear facilities to be subject to international oversight, noting the importance of any arrangements related to regional security being comprehensive and sustainable. He expressed his support for de-escalation efforts, particularly those led by Qatar and Pakistan, in a way that contributes to restoring stability.
